Let me start by saying this: Uncrowned currently holds the number one spot as the best book in the Cradle series—at least up to where I am now, which is book 9 (Bloodline). Among all the books I’ve read so far, Uncrowned truly stands out.
Why? Because it’s the most action-packed installment in the series. Personally, I found that it has the most satisfying level-up sequences and the most thrilling fight scenes to date.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Will Wight’s writing is his consistent attention to character development—and this book is no exception. From the main characters to the supporting cast, each one is given depth and purpose. Every chapter feels meaningful, making it impossible to put the book down.
The story in Uncrowned wraps up the high-stakes Uncrowned tournament arc, pushing the series to a whole new level of tension. Multiple factions are clashing, each desperate to crown their champion and secure the ultimate prize. New characters are introduced, and we start to uncover more about the broader universe and what’s really happening beyond the known world.
My favorite moment? Without a doubt, it was Lindon’s advancement near the end of the book. What made it even more powerful was experiencing it through the perspective of another character. It was a surprising, emotional moment that literally gave me chills.
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve already finished Bloodline (book 9), but I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately. That said, Uncrowned has reignited my excitement, and I’m ready to push forward and finish the rest of the Cradle series.
Thanks for reading my review of Uncrowned! Stay tuned—my review of Bloodline is coming soon.
