Uncrowned by Will Wight: Cradle Book 7 Review

I’m going to be honest here, I feel like i’m getting rather repetetive with each review of this series, and each time I say this is the best book so far it might feel like i’m exageratting things. But this still holds true for this book too, so the chain is still unbroken in my opinion.

Now, by far this is the best book I’ve read in this serie, given that it’s a little straightforward in it’s setting and story.

If you are someone that watches anime or read manga a lot, you know that in every story there is an arc that will feature a kind of tournament for the main characters to participate in.

So this is the kind of story we delve in for the 7th book of the Cradle serie. The last book was a series of preparation, hardwork and training for the heroes so that they can be prepared for what comes next, and for them to be able to participate and fight tougher enemies.

At the beginning of this book the characters passes certain trials to wittle down the number of participants. After that it comes to team fights and finally to individual fight. As you might have guessed it by now, this book follows the general rules and settings of anime and manga that features these types of stories.

But all of that doesn’t mean that the book is boring. On the contrary, I was surprised by how the fights were so amazingly portrayed here, it’s like you are watching an anime. And by the time I was starting to think that the fights were getting repetitive, there comes some nice surprises and twists that shaked things up and made me not want to stop reading until I reached the end.

I was also very happy and enjoyed how Will Wight handled the many POV used in this book, which give so many insights about new and old characters and the motives of each one and how they think. Even the villains got some POV chapters, and I was grateful for that, because it allowed me to think of them as real persons and not some hollow characters only made for the heroes to punch and defeat. Because they too have motives, feelings and goals they wanted to reach, however twisted they might be.

All in all this book is a fast paced one with some of the best fight scenes so far and amazing and intriguing progress of the story.

Final rating: ★★★★★ (by this point it’s very obvious)
