Blackflame is the third installment in the Cradle series by Will Wight, and I’m officially hooked. This series is quickly shaping up to be something truly special in the progression fantasy genre.
Overall, this book feels like a major training arc—especially for Lindon, though Yerin also gets some solid development. It’s also the book where Lindon finally learns a sacred Path, and that’s where the title Blackflame comes from.
As Lindon prepares for his duel, we follow him through intense training, powerful breakthroughs, and real character growth. I’ll be honest—I was worried this might be the “boring training book.” But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Blackflame turned out to be my favorite book in the series so far.
Beyond the training, we’re introduced to new characters and dive deeper into the world’s lore, which adds even more depth to an already rich setting.
What I loved most is the character development and the interactions between the main cast. The pacing, the banter, the fights—it all feels like watching a well-written anime. There was never a dull moment.
If you’re a fan of progression fantasy, cultivation stories, or just love seeing characters grow stronger in meaningful ways, Blackflame is a must-read.
